Grace and Peace to you!
Today’s uplift: We are more than conquerors.. So why don’t we act like it? Romans 8:37 says, "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."
The definition of conqueror is; To defeat or subdue by force, especially by force of arms; To gain or secure control of by or as if by force of arms; to overcome or surmount by physical, mental, or moral force; to be victorious; to win. Yet the Word of God says that we are more than this definition. Wow!
You may not feel like a conqueror today, but regardless of how you feel, this verse offers words of hope, peace and encouragement to those who feel discouraged, defeated and overwhelmed by life. Paul uses the phrase “more than conquerors”. This translates a word that only appears here in the New Testament. It refers to those who “gain a surpassing victory.” It means, “To be completely victorious; to carry away an overwhelming victory.” It literally has the idea of us being “Super-conquerors”.
That’s what the Bible says we are, but that’s not always how we feel. Most of the time, most believers I know seem to be overwhelmed by life. Our prayer should be that we would accept by faith the promises of God concerning the victory we have in Jesus. Our prayer should also be that God would help us to live out that victory every day, in spite of how things look to us, or how we feel about our circumstances. After all we walk by faith and not by sight!
According to the Bible, the children of God are a perpetually victorious people. We can’t always see it; we don’t always feel it and we don’t always live like it, but it’s true nonetheless. We have the victory over the trials and hardships of life. Against these things, Paul says, "we are more than conquerors." What does it mean to be "more than conquerors?
It means to prevail completely over! The idea appears to be that this is an absolute conquest. We are not just defeating tribulation as we might defeat a boxer, only to have to go another round with them later; we are not just defeating tribulation as we might defeat a nation, only to have the citizens turn and rebel against us again - this defeat will be overwhelming and final!!
We as Christians are more than conquerors not only over sin and Satan, but the world, the reproaches, afflictions, and persecutions of it which we courageously undergo, insomuch that we are not only conquerors, but "more than conquerors": We have excelled above overcoming; we have exceedingly the better of it; for our faith and joy are often increased by it; we may have not gotten the victory with ease, over Satan and his hellish emissaries, but we still got the victory by the blood of the Lamb, and the word of their testimony: but this is not owing to ourselves, or through our own strength, but through Jesus Christ!
Over comer, you are more than a conqueror! Walk in confidence knowing that you already have the victory! After all…..It was a fixed fight from the beginning!
Be Optimistic; Be Open Minded; Be an Over comer!!
Love Min. P
