What Is Really the Truth?

Updated: Oct 8, 2019

Grace and Peace to you!!

Today’s uplift: What is really the Truth?

Jesus tells us if we abide in His Word, we will know the truth and it will set us free. “So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free’” (John 8:31-32).

Sometimes you need to pause and ask yourself; what do I really think? Why do I feel anxious? Why am I not sleeping? Why do I feel inadequate? Have those vulnerabilities in your life left you so heartsick that your face admits to it before you can fake a smile? So what is really the truth?

The truth is that God loves us so much He sent His Only Son to die for us so we would have eternal life. The truth is that Jesus comes to our rescue. He not only saves our souls, but He gently pursues our hearts, heals the broken places and binds up our wounds. The truth is that our worth and value is only dependent on how Christ sees us, and He sees us as righteous. We are loved, always.

Sometimes we believe the lies that the enemy fills our minds with like we need validation from man; that we need approval from man and that we need to be popular in man’s eyes! I struggled with this myself because I didn’t fully process whose I was to know who I was. I never felt loved or appreciated and I didn’t know what to do with my pain of never feeling “good enough”.

When I learned the truth that my worth and value is not determined by someone else’s view of me, I was set free. It took time, but eventually that lie lost its power over me, my interactions with others, and my children. (If we don’t deal with our lies, we will put them on our children.)

We all have core lies that we believe, but the good news is that if we recognize those core lies, they will lead us to the gospel of good news and that good news is that “Jesus is the only one who has the authority to tell us who we are, and if we are His, we are loved and secure forever. How others view us does not determine our worth. Only Jesus determines our worth! Period!

If you’re not sure what lies might be holding you in bondage, but you want to know and be set free, then pay attention to what makes you angry, depressed or anxious (fearful). Our lies reveal themselves when the landmines of our hearts are stepped on.

Overcomer, ask God to show you, and then you can begin replacing the lies with the truth in God’s Word. That’s the truth that will set you, and the generations after you, free.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are good and that Your truth sets us free — especially when we’re aching, searching and desperate for the light. Help us, Lord, to keep hold of hope and to believe in Your truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Be Optimistic; Be Open Minded; Be an Overcomer!!

Love P.
